Theodelsea Goliath joined the Iranti team recently as the Head of Finance. Goliath comes with 13 years of experience as an accountant, of which seven years was spent in the NGO Sector as a senior management accountant, managing multi-year international donor contracts.
Theodelsea studied through UNISA, where she obtained a BCOM in Financial Management. The role which Theodelsea plays at Iranti is to ensure a cohesive link exists between donors and the various project Units at Iranti.
“If one considers that most international donor funding originates from tax payers, a greater level of accountability would be imposed on the donors and in turn on the grantees. While programmes concentrates on implementation, finance will need to ensure the risk factor is managed in line with General Accepted Accounting practice and International Framework for Reporting Standards,” she said.
Theodelsea said she was happy that there was a growing support for queer organisers from funders, “many institutions recognize the need to change the mindset of individual’s and supports the work of queer organisations whom understands that only through dialogue can this be done,” she said.
When she isn’t working, Theodelsea Goliath has an array of interests including spending time playing soccer and basketball with her two sons. She also sings in the church choir, plays the violin in the church orchestra, as well as gives free violin lessons.
Theodelsea said she believes that all human beings should be deemed as just that, human, first and foremost and also said her one hope for the world is that “ALL human beings are able to co-exist in harmony, without discrimination,”.
“Iranti has and will continue to make a difference in changing perception and the mindset of individuals, which in turn would affect the formulation and adoption of inclusive policies for the LGBTI communities,” she said.
