Iranti is a Johannesburg based regional non-profit company (NPC) founded in June 2012 to be a media and advocacy platform for lesbian, gender non-conforming, trans and intersex persons and their organisations. In pursuit of its vision and mission Iranti places a high premium on good corporate governance and the principles of honesty, respect, dignity and equality.
In its 8th year of operations, it has seen unprecedented growth, documenting life and loss faced by the community it serves and influencing changes to policy and views in support of LTI persons on the Continent and across the globe.
Pursuant to the above, the Iranti Board is seeking to appoint four new members to join the Board to ensure it has the necessary capacity and skills to oversee the work of the organisation.
Members of the Board serve in a voluntary capacity and are expected to assume the following responsibilities:
- protect the interests of the LTI community.
- promote Iranti’s vision, mission and values.
- practice fiduciary oversight over Iranti’s operations, assets and finances.
- attend and participate in the meetings of the Board.
- identify funding opportunities and promote Iranti with potential funders.
- serve on sub-committees of the Board
- adherence to the Board Charter and all relevant laws in the execution of board member duties.
To complement existing skills and competencies on the Board, this call is for candidates from the Continent with related experience in the application and/or advocacy of Human Rights, Law, Governance, Human Resources and Media/Communication. Members from the LGBTIQ+ community with experience in these fields are encouraged to apply.
The Board meets four times in a financial year. Sub-committee meetings would be in addition to this. Board members are expected to commit the time necessary to prepare for and attend Board and Board sub-committee meetings.
A panel comprising of Board Members and the Executive Director has been appointed to manage applications and interview prospective members.
If you wish to avail yourself and serve the LTI community on the Iranti Board, please forward a brief resume [no more than two pages] together with a letter of motivation to eugene@iranti.org.za by no later than 16 January 2021 for consideration.
