Civil Society, Human Rights Activists Condemn Ugandan Police Attack on Lawful LGBTI Pride Celebration. On 4 August, pride celebrations were brutally and unlawfully raided by the Ugandan police, starting at approximately 11:30 pm. Police claimed they had been told a “gay wedding” was taking place. The police locked the gates of the club, arrested more than 16 people and detained hundreds more for 90 minutes.
